Curriculum overview
Our Vision
Our school is a community underpinned by the values of ambition, kindness, endeavour and integrity. Everyone in our community will be supported to thrive, embrace challenges and develop character, empowering all to achieve.
Our Curriculum Intent
Our curriculum is the vehicle through which we implement our core values.
Our purpose is to enable young people to thrive; participate, think, explore, work hard, develop their own values and experience achievement thus empowering them to move on to the next phase of their learning with confidence.
The Key Stage 3 curriculum is broad and balanced. This breadth of experience over the three-year key stage provides a solid foundation for students to move into GCSE in Year 10. It aims to fully prepare our young people for life and study at Key Stage 4 – and beyond – by providing a broad, comprehensive and challenging curriculum, passionate and responsive teaching, and a range of enriching opportunities within the school and the wider community.
Similarly, at Key Stage 4 our students experience a broad range of subjects and are supported to undertake an ambitious and varied suite of GCSE subjects. The Ebacc is promoted and vocational subjects are offered in addition with students receiving targeted support to select the most appropriate courses for them.
Our curriculum has five key tenets linked to our values:
Lost Learning Support
At The Beacon School all our teaching and resources are posted to the relevant google classroom for a student to refer back to or use to catch up on any missed teaching during any periods of absense or should any enforced closure of the school happen.
Students can access these google classrooms using their school email and relevant password.
Revision Strategies
The video below, by The Beacon School, talks through strategies that students can use to improve their revision techniques when revising for the formal GCSE's, Mock exam, End of year exams and even end of topic tests.
