House System

The Beacon School House System aims to achieve and encourage the following principles:

To further develop the students' spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding and awareness

  • To build a Community within each House
  • To build healthy Ambition and a sense of pride in the House
  • To recognise the value of showing Kindness to our peers, others in our school and the wider community
  • To Endeavour to provide role models for the younger students
  • To develop leadership and Integrity opportunities throughout the school

During the 2023/24 academic year, we consulted our wider school community, parent/carers and also our students to review out house system. Resulting from that consultation, The Beacon School selected four new house names that were selected by the community itself as figures that were important to them that also respresent the school values.

The House system allows all of our students to participate in House celebration assemblies and competitions and win valuable points for their Houses. House 'Proud' points are awarded in various ways, for example, through good attendance, positive behaviour, participation in extra-curricular activities, competitions and representation in sports teams and tournaments or school events.

At the start of Spring Term 2025, The Beacon School also launched a new role of House Captain for our students to apply for. This is another new and exciting role for our students to have opportunity to take on a leadership position in our student community, helping to organise, design and run our House events throughout the year and will look great on their future college and work applications.

Please see the below poster for confirmation of the house competitions The Beacon School will run throughout the year.Annual House Competitions

The House names have been voted for by our students who have chosen individuals who they find inspirational through their demonstration of our school values.
