Year 9 into 10 - Options Information
Year 9 students finish Key Stage 3 courses in July 2025 and move on to Key Stage 4 courses in September 2025.
In preparation for this transition, your child will shortly be choosing his/her courses ready for Years 10 and 11. This is an important decision for your child's future; we recognise that the options process can be a difficult time for young people and we seek to offer support, and guidance and to make the options process as straightforward as possible.
The choices made are of crucial importance as they pave the way for future study. For this reason, we will do everything we can to ensure students, and you as parents, receive the best possible advice.
On the 11th February 2025, students will attend an extended assembly in school to hear about the timetable of events and the process of selecting their option choices.
During the evening of the 11th February 2025, parents/carers and students are invited into the school 5pm -7pm to hear a talk on how the options process works and to also see all the available GCSE options in action across the school, to speak to current students undertaking the seperate GCSE subjects and ask questions of the subject teachers.
11th March 2025 is the date of the Year 9 Parents Evening to another parents/carers another opportunity to talk to the teachers about GCSE options and learn about each students attainment in the relevant subjects.
The deadline to submit a student's choices is the 4th April 2025, which is the last day of the spring term.
Confirmation of the GCSE choices will issued to each student and their parent/carers in the second half of the summer term.
Helping Students Choose
To help students during this important decision making process Form tutors have been given guidance to support students with their option choices and are available to help in the first instance.
Students will also watch different assemblies and presentations on the subjects available.
