Physics Curriculum Intent:

Science helps us to understand the world we live in, and also provides answers to some of the challenges facing us, increasing the quality of our lives and equipping students with the knowledge and skills to draw conclusions and form opinions about the world. By studying biology, chemistry and physics, we aim to:

  • strengthen students’ existing knowledge of key concepts, providing a broader and deeper understanding of widely accepted scientific phenomena, enabling them to understand the uses and implications of science in everyday life;
  • develop students’ specialist vocabulary through explicit teaching and academic reading, supporting them to participate in local, national and global events;
  • progress students’ disciplinary knowledge through purposeful scientific enquiry and practical activities, encouraging them to apply their understanding and inspiring their curiosity.

Students at The Beacon School get to choose between sitting Dual Science or Triple Science as their GCSE.
